REGION’S PREMIER LIFE SCIENCES VENTURE CONFERENCE ATTRACTS EMERGING COMPANIES AND INVESTORS

Atlanta, GA March 26, 2009 - Southeast BIO (SEBIO) today announced its 2009 SEBIO Investor Forum, set for December 3-4, 2009, at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, SC.

The chair of this year’s event is Miriam Wilson, Resource Network Manager for SC Launch, an SCRA affiliate.

The annual conference, designed to stimulate venture investment in the region, offers an “early-stage” event focused on preparing newly emerging companies for raising venture capital and a “presenting companies” event, which showcases a second group of young companies that have already completed one “round” of institutional financing.

In addition, the conference includes the conclusion of SEBIO’s year-long BIO/Plan competition. The final stage of the competition and announcement of the winner occurs during the Investor Forum.

The day and a half day event also explores research, market, and financing trends with nationally recognized leaders from the investment and biosciences industries.

Kathy Carr, Managing Director, Tall Oaks Capital Partners and Chair of SEBIO, stated “We are pleased to return the conference to South Carolina once again and to have Miriam Wilson leading the efforts in the State of South Carolina to organize a strong program for the region.”

“Since the SEBIO Forum in 2005, South Carolina has made significant strides in the biotechnology industry bringing new life science technologies from the lab to marketplace,” said Miriam Wilson, SC Launch. “Enabling legislation, collaborative programs and state-wide support organizations are all contributing to the growth of South Carolina’s biotech industry.”
