Aurora Funds names two partners
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC– The Aurora Funds, a seed and early stage venture capital firm, has promoted Chris Kroeger, M.D. and Grant Jackson to the position of Partner.
In their new roles, they will continue working with Aurora’s life sciences, health care services, and healthcare IT portfolio companies as well as identifying new investment opportunities.
Kroeger joined Aurora in September 2003 as an associate and was promoted to principal in 2005. He led or co-led syndicated investments in Cardioxyl Pharmaceuticals, Hyperbranch Medical Technology, Neotropix, Cardiofocus and Paringenix. He currently serves on the board of each.
Prior to Aurora, Kroeger earned a B.A. in Biology from Harvard University, an M.D. from the Stanford University School of Medicine and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He also trained in general surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
Jackson joined Aurora in May 2004 as a senior associate and was promoted to principal in 2005. He has focused on sourcing new investment opportunities in the healthcare services and healthcare IT sector and is working closely with Aurora’s healthcare services portfolio companies. Jackson led or co-led syndicated investments in Valor Healthcare, Agility Healthcare Solutions, EDCare and ALN Medical Management, and currently serves on the board of Agility Healthcare Solutions.
Preceding his Aurora tenure, Jackson was employed with First Analysis Corporation where he specialized in venture capital investments and public equity research in the healthcare services sector. Prior to that, he worked in the venture group at Compaq Computer Corporation and served as a manager at Accenture.
Founded in 1994, The Aurora Funds is a venture capital firm that provides capital, connections and strategic guidance to entrepreneurs in early stage life sciences, healthcare services and information technology companies in the Southeastern and mid-Atlantic United States.
